There’s one thing in this world I KNOW I’m good at…finding an excuse to not exercise!  It’s so easy to do!  According to Readers Digest, the following are the most popular exercise excuses.  (Good news, they gave us tips on how to beat them!)

1. “The gym is boring and too far away.” Is your living room close enough? Turn on FitTV for a wide selection of half-hour shows.

2. “I don’t have time.” Need to sneak in some exercise before your morning commute? Log on to exercisetv.tv and choose one of 600 video workouts.

3. wii fit, exercise, fitness“I hate to exercise.” There. You said it. Couch potatoes and computer addicts can keep it challenging-and fun-with the Wii Fit Plus, Nintendo’s exercise video game and balance board. -Readers Digest

Workout for the New Year

The holiday weight always last longer than the holidays. Why is that? I’d rather Christmas stay with me for months instead of all the fatty foods. If you are like me and are thinking of trimming up in 2010 then it’s time to focus.

You don’t have to send out a newsletter alerting your friends and family of your fat gram intake, but speaking up about your new habits is a great way to motivate yourself to keep at it, and maybe even get your friends to join in. If you turn down your friends’ invitation to grab dinner at McClogged Arteries, mention that you’re trying to eat a little healthier and suggest a different place instead. Or give your best friend a free weekend pass from your gym so she can join you for your spin class.

Have you been thinking of going on a diet? Are you on one right now and struggling to maintain through the holidays? I feel your pain. One of the best challenges that I face is how I feel on the diet. I get moody and well, frankly a little mean. It’s especially hard with all the sweets around that I so want to over enjoy.

So how can I become a happy dieter? I found out that dieters are happier on low-fat diet plans. A diet really does affect your mood and it looks like controlling your fat intake as compared to your carb intake is better for your mood.

What has been your most successful diet?

Stop the car and then text

iPhoneDo you text while you drive? You know it’s dangerous don’t you. Don’t worry, I’m not chastising you. I do it myself. Yes, I’m guilty of texting while driving. For all of us that text while driving a big change may be coming.

The state of Missouri has already banned texting for younger drivers, but now all of us are going to be told to stop or pay up if the law passes. That’s right. Legislatures plan to discuss the bill at the start of the 2010 session.

What do you think? Do you think it should be illegal?

Christmas TreeYou don’t have to stress out over the holidays. Yes, I know there is a lot going on and you’ve got a lot of expectations to live up to, but you can have a stress free holiday. It’s all about setting your expectations.

To have a stress free holiday

you can’t overextend yourself. You should be able to enjoy your holidays and not have to be running around all day just to get things done. Limit what you are doing and you will have more time to spend with those that really matter this season.

One of the best tips is to take some time to yourself to just do some silent meditation. Thinking positive goes a long way and everyone deserves to have a happy holiday – and that includes you.

Do you have any stress reducing tips that you would like to share?
